Report «Partners in Nazi Crimes. 96 Surviving Veterans of the Latvian SS Legion» was published in English.
Let us recall, that on March 16, the report, prepared by the Historical Memory Foundation and the Foundation for the Support and Development of Jewish Culture, Traditions, Education and Science, was presented during round-table discussion on «the Last chance for justice: deanonymization of Nazi criminals» in the press center of MIA «Russia segodnya».
The report contains historical and legal information about The Latvian SS Legion, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by units that were part of The Latvian SS Legion, and also reveals the identities of 96 of the approximately 400 Legionnaires currently living.
Investigative Committee at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation commented on the report, noting that the submitted personal data will be studied. The IC RF intends to check these people for involvement in crimes against humanity.
The presentation of the report met an international response. The US and Canada Ministries of Justice have expressed their readiness to investigate the case of members of the Latvian SS Legion, as well as to request relevant information from the Russia.
